Beginning Stained Glass: 6-week session

Register early to get your spot!

This entry level class is for those with little or no stained glass experience and will teach you everything you need to get started.

The student will be taught the skills of pattern setup, scoring and breaking glass, grinding, foiling, soldering and framing. Each student will make an art glass panel from a geometric or abstract design approx. 1 sq. ft. in size.

IMPORTANT: It is recommended that you allow 7-10 days before the first class to choose your pattern with the instructor at Spark and have sufficient time to purchase your art glass (nearest supplier: Vijon Glass in Old Saybrook).

Class meets Wednesday Nights 6 – 8:30pm on Jan. 22, 29, and Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26.

Intro to Stained Glass: Let’s Make Feathers! @ Spark Makerspace Tickets

Back by popular demand, this one-day workshop is perfect for first-timers. Using the Tiffany copper foil method of stained glass construction, you will make and take home 2 feathers (each approx. 6” long). You will learn the basics of glass cutting, grinding, copper foiling and soldering while you make 2 beautiful feathers from a choice of 5 different patterns. These feathers are elegant on their own or suitable for embellishment with beads, leather, wirework, or made into dreamcatchers or mobiles.

Class time: 10am – 4pm

Issa SLAM y’all! Cultured Studios is hosting the first #TalkYoShit invitational poetry slam on February 7th. Its also Cultured AF’s 1 year anniversary celebration so come party with us.

We’ve invited past #TalkYoShit featured poets, and a few newcomers to compete in a poetry slam for a cash prize hosted by national slam champ, Influence. It’s gonna be real af. The talented Erycka Ortiz will be opening the show for us, with new music. After the slam we’ll have a short open mic, then we’ll close the night with music and dancing.

Admission: 18+, $7 advance tix/ $10 at the door
